Bob Harris traveled from South Carolina with his immaculate 66 Barracuda, which he claims used to be a rust bucket when he started with it. He won 2nd place in the 1960-66 stock A-body class! Well deserved, obviously. (Note the tinted rear window, which Bob says he had done while the glass was out of the car.)

Dave Mapes came from Maryland with his famous auto-crossing Goldfish. Dave apparently likes things cool under the hood, notice the aluminum radiator, and the heat shield wrapped around the brake master cylinder.

It seems that Lenny Young was happy to display not only his beautiful 65 Barracuda, but most of his library as well.

Drag racing was in abundance. Some typical cars... some not so typical. Ever seen a 6-wheeled Duster??

So you like the looks of the PT Cruiser, but need more horsepower? Try putting the motor behind the rear axle... it puts the center of gravity at a spot where the Cruiser can pull wheelies all the way down the track.

There was truly something for everyone. Of course, what would a car show be without all sorts of cars, many with hoods in the air... from mild to wild, from daily driver to show car to drag car, anything you wanted to admire was there.

Your humble Webmaster thinks this car should have won an award for widest tires...!

Also, the original General Lee Charger was on display. According to a recent magazine article, this car was discovered and salvaged from a junkyard by a guy who has been pursuing General Lee cars for quite some time. Apparently the strongest reason the car was still sitting among the trees was because of the concrete which had been poured into the trunk cavities... a car doesn't go through the crusher very well that way. And why concrete? Ballast to offset the weight of the big block engine, so the car would fly at a level altitude during those TV jumps in midair.

And of course, some museum pieces... and new concept cars.

Anyone remember the Mod Top? It was a fairly rare option in 1969, could also be had with matching seat covers. Yes, those were the days when some people tried to feed hallucinogens to their automobiles, it seems. smiley

Muscle cars weren't the only vehicles lined up, waiting to show how much rubber they could burn off the tires. (The EPA would be proud.)
Dodge Ram
Among the haze, this guy in a Dodge Ram pickup truck gave it his best shot. He'd probably still be there smoking now, except that a tire blew.

You like a fish etched into glass? How about a whole row of glass bubble backs?

Don't forget Pooh, and how about the competition for Miss Carlisle? Truly something for everyone.

And of course, our intrepid crew. Well, those who made it for the photo, anyway. (And thanks to Dave, we could now be known as The Early Valian Barrac Club.) What a great show! We hope for even more members to join the fun next year!
