August 8-10, 2003. Mopar Nationals, Columbus OH

What would this show be, without the legendary cruising and burnout festivities on Brice Road? photos courtesy of Becca Kerewsky

However, as Becca so eloquently pointed out, it's worth noting that Brice Road is a major commercial strip that connects US 40 to I-70. For Saturday night, she told us, "I parked the Cuda and watched the traffic jam. My heart goes out to the poor commuters in their non-Mopars who have gotten themselves stuck in this mess."

The car show, itself... is huge. No other word could possibly describe the effect of about 3000 cars and 50,000 spectators over the course of three days. (According to statistics at www.moparnats.org, those attendance numbers have been holding steady for at least the past five years.)

Anything you could possibly want was there...

including our very own club members, Mark Koenig and Mike West.
Thanks to both of them, for supplying photos.

Plenty of drag racing action...

...and an old Mopar the didn't know if it was coming or going! According to Mark Koenig, "You'd have to see it to believe it. Street legal! Full instrumentation/pedals both ways inside, and both interiors are identical. Only one side is functional, but it is so well done, you cannot tell the front from the back without looking real close. The headlights on the back side (whichever that is) light up red when the brake is applied."

You like a hood scoop on a 66 Dart? How about a 340 Duster that is actually a sleeper? (Yep, that's a Hemi in there!)

Customized 64 or 65 Cuda.

(editorial comment: Hey, while I'm thinking of it, why are so many so-called "restored" cars following the trend of black paint in the engine compartment? Easier to keep clean? I doubt it. If you can supply a useful reason to deviate from the factory practice of painting the entire body in the same color, please join our mailing list and let us know. Curiosity abounds.)

61 Dart: the face only a mother could love. And a pickup truck that ran in the low 10s!

...and pretty much anything else you could look for was at the Mopar Nats. Thanks to Mike West for the following photos...

(If anyone recognizes the beautiful model posing at the hood of the beautiful 64, please let us know, we'd love to give both of them credit.)
